Style Sourcebook Profile: Austaron Surfaces

When you come across a gorgeous interior design project, what are the features that stand out to you? Is it the palette? The functionality vs aesthetics? Or maybe it’s the quality materials used within the space. At Bayview One, you won’t have to decide on a single element that captures your attention because it has all of those features and more.

Welcome to the award-winning Bayview One. We’re taking a tour of this incredible contemporary-style family home with Austaron Surfaces to discover the unique spaces and how Staron® Solid Surfaces brought them to life.

Designed by Brisbane-based design studio Darren James Interiors, the home was crafted to create a unique space that would be functional for the homeowners while taking on a ‘less is more’ aesthetic. Featuring sleek finishes combined with contemporary materials, clean lines, a light, neutral palette, and of course, Staron® Solid Surfaces, the home truly is a refined sanctuary.

Staron® Solid Surfaces Bright White really does take centre stage within this project, making appearances throughout the home in spaces such as the kitchen, scullery, study, bathrooms, and laundry. This incredible use of Staron® Solid Surfaces not only demonstrates the versatility and practicality of the product but also how it can be used to create connection and flow throughout the home. This connection is perfectly illustrated in the details, like the splashback. The Staron® benchtop flows sleekly from the edge to underneath the splashback meaning there is no need for a silicon join. Talk about seamlessness.

Beyond functionality and connection, Bright White also aids in creating a fresh atmosphere within each space through its striking shade and matt finish. Take the kitchen, for example. As white tends not to absorb any light, the Bright White benchtops reflect the sunlight that streams in from various windows and skylights, brightening the area and creating a strong contrast against the light oak cabinetry and splashback.

Furthering the atmosphere, Staron® Solid Surfaces also works to add a touch of softness to the home, which can sometimes prove tricky with a cool-toned contemporary style. Those curved edges do more than help to create a connection between various zones. They also play into the organic elements within the home, further adding comfort. Being a versatile and flexible material, it’s simple to add this aspect that may seem subtle but can completely alter the aesthetics and mood of a space.

So, just what is Staron® Solid Surfaces? The product is manufactured from refined bauxite, which is a safe silica-free mineral, and blended with pure acrylic resin. This means it’s a solid surface with a non-porous texture, making it stain-resistant and easy to clean. As illustrated in Bayview One, Staron® Solid Surfaces can be curved or moulded into any desired shape. This flexibility also allows you to create seamless, long, and wide surfaces with no visible joins. Need we say more?
