“Style Sourcebook was a huge help when piecing together the spaces. I honestly couldn’t imagine not being able to use the mood boards to visualise my choices and decisions.”

It was two years before Jess and her family found the perfect location for Villa Ta Lumi. An existing home was already positioned on the block, but with schools and scenic local areas within walking distance, Jess knew this was the perfect spot. Villa Ta Lumi began as a knockdown rebuild project, which enabled Jess to build a home that would support the growing family’s lifestyle, both now and in the future, while creating idyllic spaces exactly as she had envisioned. Gaining its name from an incredible lemon tree on the property, the concept of Villa Ta Lumi was created.

Taking inspiration from Three Birds Renovations and Style Sourcebook users, such as Ashley from Sage and Cove, Jess started to bring together her vision for the home (on a mood board, of course!) “Style Sourcebook was a huge help when piecing together the spaces. I honestly couldn’t imagine not being able to use the mood boards to visualise my choices and decisions,” mentions Jess. “I truly found (Style Sourcebook) most helpful before my build began. I loved being able to put paint colours, flooring, hardware, stones, feature cladding, plumbing fixtures, etc. together to ensure it all ‘vibed’ as one. This was especially helpful for me as we have quite a few different interior styles being merged into one!

It’s the blending of these different interior design styles that truly gives Villa Ta Lumi this retreat-like atmosphere. The home takes influences from coastal, modern, and Mediterranean interior styles to achieve its serene status. We’re in love with the bright white palette, soft timber features, and subtle textured details, like the mosaic tiles found on the bathroom splashbacks.

Each space is just as tranquil as the last with no element overlooked, but if there’s one area of Villa Ta Lumi that has us completely captivated, it’s the kitchen.

The open-plan kitchen boasts an impressive island bench with fluted joinery and brushed brass tapware, complemented by the understated stone benchtop and splashback. Arched doorways add interest while leading through to separate spaces, such as the walk-in pantry and laundry. Lots of storage was also a must-have for Villa Ta Lumi but you’d never know considering how well the stylish cabinetry hides the different compartments. The kitchen is warm, connected, and functional, exactly what you’d want the heart of any home to feel like.

Beyond aesthetics and design styles, Villa Ta Lumi is also harmonious with its location. Designed for the North Queensland lifestyle, the home boasts plenty of natural light and features a strategic layout that connects the internal spaces with the outdoors, creating ease and flow. We also can’t go past the stunning high ceilings that aid with that sunlight and natural air.
