Welcome to Parkway Home, a modern farmhouse renovation from Bone + Blanc Interiors. This completely unique project is a strategic extension of a heritage home that was incredibly loved by the owners but was no longer functional for their family and lifestyle. Located in Newcastle, erasing the home’s story wasn’t an option, so when co-founders Court and Riss from Bone + Blanc Interiors were given the brief, they knew exactly what to do. We’re lucky enough to take a tour of Parkway Home with Bone + Blanc Interiors and dive into the incredible aspects of this modern farmhouse extension.
The renovation of Parkway Home had to be carefully considered to ensure the charm of the original home was not only left intact but also felt completely cohesive with the contemporary addition. The homeowners left the brief quite open, giving Bone + Blanc Interiors creative freedom to create a home rich in character that also fit within their lifestyle. And Parkway Home is exactly that.
The exquisite home is just boasting with organic tones and textures, bright, natural light, and heritage features, making it the perfect modern farmhouse style home. It's comfortable enough to feel warm and welcoming, but modern enough to tick all the functional boxes.
“By carefully preserving key aspects and details of the heritage property, the design successfully marries the old-world charm with new-age aesthetics.”
- Bone + Blanc Interiors
Achieving the perfect blend between old and new can be a challenge, but Bone + Blanc Interiors have demonstrated with the right elements and combinations, it’s definitely possible. A focus was put on keeping original parts like the floorboards and ornate details in the architecture of the existing dwelling. Plus, it was important to keep the structure true to its authentic era. Aspects like this combined with the timeless modern farmhouse style is exactly why Parkway Home feels completely cohesive.
In addition to the complementing details, Parkway Home’s palette also plays a key role in achieving that modern farmhouse aesthetic without taking away from the heritage charm. A strong focus was placed on a monochromatic palette, another strategic choice that works towards complete cohesion. Classic tones, like black and white, were used in conjunction with an organic palette of American oak. Brushed nickel and natural details like stone and timber décor work to further emphasis that vintage farmhouse style and elevate the space.
The entire home feels effortless as if the extension was always there.
We couldn’t pick a favourite feature, between the palette, blend of old and new aesthetics, and the timeless décor, it would be impossible. But when we asked Court and Riss, they mentioned the custom black aluminium pantry doors that just make the space feel so special and we had to agree. They draw in the eye with textured glass and prominent black framing, a real conversation starter.
We hope you’re feeling inspired by the incredible Bone + Blanc Interiors and their Parkway Home project. If you’re looking for further modern farmhouse inspiration, then why not check out our mood board library here.
