Let’s Tour Orton Haus 3.0 | A Coastal Duplex in Merewether

Soft curves, natural light, and that quiet kind of luxury. Orton Haus 3.0 feels just like a dream, as proof that the little moments make the biggest impact. We’ve already toured the coastal resort-inspired home in Merewether, and now it’s time to step inside their latest project, Orton Haus 3.0 by Justine and Luke Orton of Ort & Co Building.

This pair of homes seamlessly balances comfort, craftsmanship, and contemporary Australian design. Adhering to the core principles of their usual home designs, taking pride in the design that reflects how Australians live today, both homes have identical layouts but different finishes. Located in Merewether, NSW, this modern duplex is refined yet relaxed, and architectural yet warm. Grounded in natural materials and shaped for effortless living, this home project is a masterclass in how thoughtful design can elevate everyday life. Come with us to explore the interior design.

Inside, the living, kitchen, and dining areas unfold continuously and flow seamlessly, anchored by a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling arched window that floods the space with golden light. Sheer curtains soften the edges, filtering the sun in a way that feels almost dreamlike, with sun-kissed warmth. Above, a curved stair balcony floats like a sculptural ribbon, becoming a visual statement that gently guides to the rooms beyond. Repeated arches in the windows, joinery, and balustrades create a sense of rhythm and cohesion, tying every element together in a design that feels expansive and intentional.

Now, let’s head to the kitchen. Understated and elegant, this is a space where texture and tone become the focal point. Understated in palette but rich in detail, it leans into materiality to create depth and warmth with heavily grained timber cabinetry bringing character and movement to the space. Stone surfaces layer in contrast, offering a smooth, cool balance to the expressive timber grain, while metallic gooseneck taps arc elegantly above the sink. The styling feels considered with neutral cushions that soften seating, echoing the creamy undertones woven throughout the space.

Flowing on from the kitchen, the living area pairs a light, generously proportioned sofa with a plush light-toned rug to keep the palette airy and cohesive. We love how the brown round coffee tables add depth to the palette, and their sculptural forms echo the home’s curves. The repetition of brown cabinetry grounds the room, creating a sense of continuity and balance between light and dark.

Upstairs, the master bedroom is light-filled, calm, and undeniably dreamy with layers of creams and beiges that wrap the room in softness. This serenity carries through to the bathroom, where a freestanding bath sits like a centrepiece beneath soft natural light. Tying together the ultimate feeling of relaxation, the rainfall shower and warm wood vanity bring that spa-like calm we’re all chasing.

We’ve loved exploring more projects by Justine and Luke Orton of Ort & Co Building. This NSW Duplex is a sanctuary of soft curves and natural light, balancing light, texture, and flow for a space that lives well. Cohesive yet layered, this is a timeless home that’s generous, expansive, and deeply connected.
