Before the stone rangehood became a statement feature and before the bathrooms transformed into spa-like retreats, this home began as a mood board. A carefully curated collection of textures, materials and inspiration images that captured the feeling Servini Studio wanted this family home in Fyansford, Geelong to evoke: warm, welcoming and deeply connected to nature.
With sun-bleached stone, coastal oak, warm neutrals and endless inspiration of contemporary coastal living, this home was brought to life through Style Sourcebook mood boards and Project Studio by Servini Studio. You might remember Servini Studio from a feature in our magazine at Decor + Design a few years ago, and the lovely founder Mona, who was a guest speaker at our Project Studio launch webinar.
Servini Studio is founded together by husband-and-wife Mona and Michael Servini. Originally from overseas and now based in Brisbane, the pair bring together expertise in interior design, architectural design and CGI visualisation, allowing them to craft highly considered spaces from the earliest concept stages through to completion. Their design philosophy centres around creating homes that feel timeless, functional and deeply connected to the people who live within them.
For this family home, the brief was to create a sanctuary that could keep pace with busy family life while still feeling refined and sophisticated. Drawing inspiration from natural materials and minimalist design principles, the concept embraced tactile finishes, organic textures and a palette designed to evoke calm. Think coastal oak joinery, Taj Mahal stone, brushed nickel details and beautiful tiling that quietly steals the show throughout the home.

The original mood board established a material palette centred around coastal oak cabinetry, Taj Mahal quartzite and brushed nickel finishes. These selections became the foundation for the entire home, creating a sense of cohesion that carries through every room.
Stepping into the completed kitchen, the first thing you'll notice is the impressive island that anchors the open-plan layout. Designed as both a functional workspace and gathering point, it creates a natural hub for family life. Surrounding it, coastal oak joinery introduces warmth, while the soft veining of Taj Mahal quartzite brings a quiet sense of luxury.
One feature we can't stop admiring is the sculptural rangehood, clad entirely in Taj Mahal stone. Acting as a focal point within the room, it transforms a practical element into a beautiful architectural statement. Subtle arches create elegant transitions between the kitchen and butler's pantry, softening the clean lines and introducing a sense of flow. These thoughtful details bring personality to the minimalist palette and elevate the everyday experience of the space.

The overarching concept focused on balancing natural aesthetics with minimalistic principles, using wood, stone and layered textures to create spaces that feel grounded and inviting. Soft, earthy tones allow the materials to take centre stage, while carefully selected furnishings add comfort and warmth. A striking stone fireplace becomes the focal point of the living room, introducing texture and visual weight while reinforcing the home's connection to natural materials. Paired with luxurious textiles and a restrained palette, the space feels calm, welcoming and perfectly suited to family life.
The same thoughtful approach carries through to both upstairs bathrooms, where natural textures and warm finishes create spaces that feel more like boutique retreats than everyday bathrooms. In the master ensuite, products from ABI Interiors and Luxe Mirrors help bring the mood board vision to life. Custom coastal oak joinery pairs beautifully with natural stone finishes, while layered lighting creates a soft, calming atmosphere that feels instantly relaxing. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the minimalist fixtures to the subtle material variations that add depth without overwhelming the space. The result is a bathroom that feels timeless, elegant and incredibly serene.

The children's bathroom follows a similar material palette, ensuring continuity throughout the home, but introduces playful moments through carefully selected accent tiles. Together, the bathrooms demonstrate the power of a strong concept. By establishing a clear material palette from the outset, Servini Studio was able to create spaces that feel connected while still allowing room for individuality.
