Kiama Kin; A Sophisticated Coastal Home with Warm Interiors

Coastal style homes will always hold a special place in our hearts here at Style Sourcebook. We’re not sure if it’s the tranquil palette or the soothing features that remind us of a beach holiday, or maybe the warmth comes from the interiors. But what we do know is that Kiama Kin has it all.

Welcome to Kiama Kin, a sophisticated coastal home that is redefining the trend as we know it, while illustrating the iconic elements we all love about coastal homes. Brought to you by the talented Hemma Interiors, this knockdown rebuild project is the perfect family home and we can’t wait to show you inside. Let’s dive in!

Kiama Kin has had us captivated since the start, and it’s not hard to see why. But this project is more than just an aesthetic space, it’s been a long-awaited dream for the clients. The homeowners had been living in the original house for years with the goal of rebuilding. They loved the location but wanted to create a home that better suited their growing family.

This brief presented Hemma Interiors with the opportunity to create a sophisticated coastal home that ticked all the boxes. The concept reflects the client’s love for the location of the home and beach lifestyle, while also creating a space that is chic and practical.

So, what exactly is sophisticated coastal? You may have seen this fresh take on the iconic coastal interiors and Hemma Interiors perfectly embodies this newfound style in Kiama Kin. Sophisticated coastal steps away from those cooler whites and instead opts for warm tones, earthy textures, and timber features. There’s still that brilliant element of natural light, airiness, and a refreshing palette we all know and love, yet it feels elevated. It combines the best of both worlds, and we can't wait to see more spaces take this approach.

And we have to touch on the texture featured in Kiama Kin. Each textural element combines together to fashion a space that is filled with soft visual interest. Finding the balance between pattern, palette, and texture can sometimes prove a challenge but Hemma Interiors has perfectly achieved this. From the stone fireplace to the fixtures, décor, and crazy pave flooring, we’re absolutely swooning over the use of each element that cohesively flows together to create a connected space.

It’s hard to pick a favourite feature within this home, but when we asked Hemma Interiors, we had to agree. The answer? The curved pantry door, which was beautifully hand-crafted in timber by a local joiner. This striking feature is the perfect entryway that provides both detail and interest to the back wall.

We’ve loved touring Kiama Kin with Hemma Interiors. The boutique interior design studio, located on the South Coast of NSW, always has us in awe of their inspiring projects. Their focus on creating peaceful homes that improve their clients’ lifestyles is perfectly articulated with Kiama Kin.
