Each year we look forward to seeing the annual Australian Dulux Colour Trend Forecast. With what seems to have been like a challenging year for a lot of us, the Australian Dulux Colour Trend Forecast for 2022 has come at just the right time. In response to the challenging landscape, Dulux has curated their 2022 colour palettes with this in mind. “Living through a pandemic has made us feel even more connected to our homes,” says Andrea Lucena-Orr, Dulux Colour and Communication Manager. “When it comes to future trends, comfort is key. We want our living spaces to calm and nurture us, so we can process everything we’ve experienced over the last year, and at the same time, help us rediscover our zest for life looking forward.” With most of us spending more time in our home than ever before, it’s so important that our home reflects the things we love and brings us a sense of joy. Adding the right colours to your home is such a simple way that you can achieve this. Below, we explore the three colour palettes of the Dulux 2022 Colour Forecast. We’ve also added all of the colours in the colour forecast to our mood board tool so you can see how these work in your own home. You can check them out here.
The restore colour palette is made up of earthy, natural, rugged, and gentle tones. This soothing palette speaks more to the minimalist and someone who is looking to add colour into their home in a more subtle way. “This palette is inspired by our innate need for authentic connection and experience,” says Lucena-Orr. “Interiors have become our cocoon and a place where we can practice wellness and self-care rituals. We’re choosing less, however, focusing on more quality items that last and provide comfort above all else.”
The bold and daring colours in the flourish palette capture a sense of adventure and passion. If you are feeling daring and wanting to add a bit of saturated colour into your home, the flourish palette is for you. “It’s a look for those who want to re-write design rules,” says Lucena-Orr. “As we move towards more freedoms, these colours enrich our feelings of empowerment and spark our imagination. With this comes unrestricted expression, inclusivity and a celebration of the diversity in our community.”
Full of light pastels and whimsical colours, the wonder palette instantly evokes a calming, cheerful and fun vibe. For those who are needing an injection of optimism and cheer into their life, the wonder palette is bound to do just that. “These colours set the stage for regeneration and growth, with unexpected tones drawn from the natural world around us,” says Lucena-Orr. “As we add more colour to our interiors, our imaginations are rekindled.”
“Adding one or more colours from the Forecast palettes – whether it’s with paint or accessories – is a great way to bring your home up-to-date, as well as creating that positive change in your surroundings so many of us crave right now! Once you live with colour and experience the connection and emotion it creates, you’ll never return to a blank canvas”.
Dulux Colour and Communication Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr
