There’s nothing quite like a monochrome palette when it comes to creating a luxe and sophisticated interior. Tameka Moffat Designs seem to create this for every single interior project they touch - and the Headland Project is no different. Before we take you on a tour of this contemporary home, we thought we’d introduce you to the masterminds behind it all. Tameka Moffat Designs is a leading and award-winning interior design studio based in Sydney. The team is passionate about all aspects of design and focuses on creating spaces that are functional, timeless, refined, and sophisticated. With over 20 years of experience within the design industry, it’s no secret why the homeowners of the Headland Project enlisted the studio's help to complete a major renovation of their seaside home.  From the new timber flooring to the dreamy views from the kitchen windows, the Headland Project really is nothing short of breathtaking.

What better place to start than by admiring this gorgeous monochromatic kitchen? Sticking to a monochrome palette, the kitchen really comes to life through the addition of different size windows and doors, with the serene ocean views peeking through them. While the home doesn’t feel like your typical coastal home, the interior design team has done a fine job of creating a modern and contemporary home, at the same time as giving the right amount of attention to the peaceful shoreline of the neighboring ocean. With a view like that from the kitchen window, we’re sure we wouldn’t mind being on washing-up duty every night.

One of our favourite features of this entire project is the island bench that couples as a second dining table. This two-level bench is cleverly designed to not only be practical by maximizing space, but the timber top of the dining table adds an inviting sense of warmth and coziness to the space. The sleek handless cabinetry and integrated appliances allow the natural materials used to be the hero and ensures this will be a kitchen that the homeowners will enjoy for many years to come.

Keeping aligned with the simple, sleek, and sophisticated aesthetic of the rest of the home, the bathroom offers a calming and relaxing place to unwind after a long day at the office. It’s easy to see that attention to detail is at the forefront of every design decision, with the stone of the vanity top tying in with the stone used in the kitchen. Keeping the materials consistent throughout really does give your home that seamless and cohesive feel.

The Headland Project really is the epitome of a contemporary home. The home is an example of how a monochrome palette, when designed right, can be full of many different textures, layers, and character. It also goes to show that there are many different styles of ‘coastal’ homes. That’s the beauty of home design – you can make it whatever you desire.
