Renovation + Interiors: The Bailey Build

If you’re a fan of homes filled with character, then you’ll love Fontayne. This family home, situated on the Mornington Peninsula, is the result of a loving renovation completed by The Bailey Build. What was once an outdated space is now filled with so much interest, style, and plenty of inspiration.
We’re sitting down with Steph, from The Bailey Build, to discover the journey of this sun-drenched home and how a blend of iconic styles was combined to create its unique aesthetic.
Sitting on a beautiful block was an old 1970s brown brick family home. As soon as Steph visited the space, she could see the opportunities the home held, and began visualising the transformation of the home. Pulling inspiration from many different avenues, The Bailey Build started on their journey to converting each space into a light, bright dream home that would be striking, yet calm and serene.

The overarching vision for the home was to embody a coastal style, with a blend of both modern and traditional elements, that also felt connected to the outdoors. To be able to achieve this, The Bailey Build worked on opening up spaces, immersing each area in the expansive backyard and gardens that surrounded the home, through an abundance of windows, organic materials, and a colour palette filled with understated greens.
However, these materials and colour palettes were initially combined on Style Sourcebook so Steph could begin exploring different selections that would best suit the home. Bringing the outdoors in while aiming to achieve a sense of luxury through various styles is no easy feat, but it really is the details that make this home so unique.
“We believe that your home should be a reflection of your unique lifestyle and aspirations.”
- Steph Webster | The Bailey Build
At Fontayne, you’ll find influences of contemporary, coastal, modern and colonial styles throughout the home. We love how each element adds its own interest and evokes a sense of calm. Take the light-engineered oak floorboards, for example. As a non-negotiable for The Bailey Build, this selection is a classic coastal style feature that is so versatile as it easily pairs with other interior design styles. And that really is the key to achieving a home that doesn't stick within the confines of one style. Even the Siena Grigo stone in the kitchen gives a contemporary touch that complements the cool colonial additions found throughout the home. The bathrooms boast a sense of modern serenity, and the decor is definitely the icing on the cake as it plays homage to each style. We love how The Bailey Build injected their personality to really make this renovation a home.

The Bailey Build originally started as a space to share the renovation journey. But with the next project already on the way (her and her partner, Ryan’s, 1930s cottage - we can’t wait!), The Bailey Build is focused on sharing projects they're passionate about. Steph and Ryan aim to create homes that are inviting, warm, vibrant, and bright, while reflecting your unique lifestyle and aspirations. Fontayne is a complete testament to this statement.
