Essentials Elements for Designing Your Functional Laundry Layout
We’ve put together a list of the essential elements needed for a functional laundry:
Storage: The more storage, the better. Storage is essential for decluttering and ensuring you have the space you need to put things away and free your benchtop from mess to use your laundry freely. Drawer cabinets and tall cabinets with shelving are the ultimate storage solutions, we also love utilising open shelves for easy to reach items.
Practicality: Think about layout and how the space will function – placing a hamper cabinet right next to the washing machine is always a game changer and frees the floor from dirty clothes! Now it’s time to plan your layout. It’s always good to start by measuring the space and choosing the shape of your layout. The most common layouts are straight-run, L-shaped, and gallery laundries. The shape you choose will be determined by how much space you have to work with.
Tip: There are also a few key things to keep in mind such as the location of existing and future power points, the room needed for opening and closing windows and doors, and the size of your appliances.
Finalising Your Layout
No laundry would be complete without the final fittings and fixtures. We love how creating an aesthetically pleasing space makes a world of difference. So, don’t forget to choose your benchtops, cabinetry, and tapware to complement your new layout. We recommend matching the style of your home for cohesion.
