Have you ever felt that a home is the physical form of what golden hour feels like? Nestled in Corlette by the shores of Port Stephens in New South Wales, the Corrie Residence is a striking example of how timeless design, tactile finishes, and an appreciation for natural light can elevate a family home into a sanctuary. Designed by Interior Designer She Is Liv, this residence balances minimalism with warmth, offering a space that feels both sculptural and deeply liveable. It embodies golden hour light; softly diffused and glowing with quiet radiance.

From the outset, the home makes a bold impression with its crisp white exterior and clean-lined form, softened by the lush greenery that frames its façade. The entry sets the tone: pared back yet inviting, the architecture’s restraint is offset by subtle textural details that invite you in. What comes next inside is breathtaking to say the very least.

Stepping inside, the curved staircase crafted from micro-cement can’t help but command attention, enhanced with crushed Mother of Pearl shells to create a natural iridescence. The heart of the home reveals itself through an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space designed for both connection and calm.

The interiors are guided by a palette of neutral tones, layered with tactile finishes; plaster, stone, and natural timber come together to create a sense of grounded luxury. Sunlight filters generously through the home’s expansive glazing, washing across surfaces and creating an ever-changing play of shadow and light.

The kitchen is a clear standout, combining functionality with sculptural beauty. A curved island bench in natural stone softens the sharpness of the surrounding cabinetry, while integrated appliances and streamlined joinery keep the focus on form. It’s a space designed to host, to cook, and to enjoy the peaceful moments. Even the curves of the bar stools are a small element in the open plan space, but make a big impact on the sculptural feel, aligning with the curves of the rooms. This space is really a perfect expression of how design can shape daily life and mood.

Throughout the Corrie Residence, there is a constant dialogue between minimalism and warmth. The pared-back aesthetic avoids sterility through the use of texture and tone. Plush furnishings, boucle fabrics, and tactile finishes lend softness, while curated styling pieces add personality without overwhelming the calmness of the design.

The private spaces are equally considered. In the master suite, gentle curves and muted tones create a retreat-like atmosphere. A freestanding statement bath anchors the ensuite, its sculptural form enhanced by brushed metal tapware and soft natural light. These spaces are designed to restore, offering moments of quiet luxury in the everyday.

Outdoor living has not been overlooked. Expansive sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and out, leading to a landscaped courtyard where stone and greenery echo the home’s interiors. This seamless connection ensures the home always feels open, breathing, and connected to nature.

What makes the Corrie Residence so compelling is its balance of restraint and richness. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the curvature of the joinery to the tonal layering of the finishes. Yet, it never feels overdesigned. Instead, it achieves something rarer: a space that is deeply calming, timeless in aesthetic, and attuned to the rhythms of everyday family life.

She Is Liv is an advocate for simple living, calming spaces, and the virtues of considered design, and this shines through in this project. As a boutique design studio that creates considered interiors with a focus on uniqueness, She Is Liv has created more than a house with the Corrie Residence, it’s an environment that nurtures wellbeing, encourages togetherness, and celebrates the beauty of simplicity. The Corrie Residence is a testament to the power of design to transform not just how a home looks, but how it feels to live within it.
